How data is handled

Two jurisdictions. Clear rules.

Owner CFO is built for New Zealand and Australia. The rules differ by country, and we follow both of them.

New Zealand

Records kept for seven years, as Inland Revenue requires.
GST 101A logic follows published Inland Revenue rules.
IRD number format validated on entry, never stored in plain text.
Data hosted in the Australian region, close to home.

Australia

Records kept for five years, as the ATO requires.
BAS logic follows published ATO guidelines.
ABN validated to the mod-89 checksum standard.
Data hosted in the Australian region, in-country.

Subprocessors

We use a small, named set of infrastructure providers to deliver the service: Supabase for the database, Vercel for hosting, Stripe for billing, and OpenRouter for the categorisation and receipt-reading features. The full list, with locations, is in the Privacy Policy. We give 14 days notice before adding any new provider.

Our commitments

Four promises we will not bury in the fine print.

These are not aspirations. They are how Owner CFO is built and how it will stay. If any of this ever changes, we will tell you first, not hope you do not notice.

You own your data

Your figures belong to you, not to us. We hold them so the product can work for you, and that is the whole of it.

Take a clean copy of your records whenever you want, no waiting, no support ticket, no fee for the privilege.

We never sell your data

Your numbers are not a product we trade. We do not sell, rent, or hand them to advertisers. Full stop.

Stored in NZ and AU regions

Your data is hosted in the Australian region, close to home for owners on both sides of the Tasman.
